Who can you help, and how ?
With more than 15 years of experience and being involved in the hiring process in all the studios I have worked at, I know exactly what it takes to get hired. I can help anyone interested in rigging - both the aesthetic and technical sides.
Can you tell us about yourself and your background?
I am originally from small and peaceful town from the mountains of Bulgaria where I grew up loving both art and technologies. Ofcourse at that age I had absolutely no idea what can I do with such opposite interests. The VFX and Animation industry were very new, almost non existent so I never looked at that as an option. For that reason I decided I can be a great lawyer and started studying law. I wasted three years at the university until I decided this is very far from what I love. At that point I already had a small demoreel with short animations I have worked on my own and decided to apply for a job at the biggest VFX company in Bulgaria at that time - Worldwide FX. I joined the team when it was only 20 people and the atmosphere there was amazing. I learned a lot and gained a lot of experience in the VFX industry. A decade later I decided to work on Feature Animations and I`m currently working as senior character TD at Blue Sky Studios
How did you get to where you are now?
After working several years as a generalist I started specializing in character animation and rigging. Rigging for me has always been the most interesting aspect in the pipeline because it gives you the chance to work directly on the characters and also combines two very different abilities - technical and visual. After spending a decade in VFX and commercials I moved to work on Feature Animation at Blue Sky Studios where I`m currently a Lead Character TD
Where do you draw inspiration from?
Tell us something odd about yourself?
I have had more than 50 different hair styles.
